Angel Diaz is scheduled to be executed on December 13 for the 1979 death of Joseph Nagy. Mental health experts conclude that Mr. Diaz suffers from mental disorders which contributed to his decision to represent himself and undermined competency to do so. A key prosecution witness at the trial has recanted his testimony, which had been a key part of the evidence that convicted Diaz of murder. On November 27, lawyers for Mr. Diaz filed a new motion in court on the basis of this new evidence.
